Turkish Students Are Building a Waste-Free Future!

Students of Turkey's Diyanet Foundation (TDV) Bornova College became third in the world with a project aimed at promoting a waste-free lifestyle by reducing the use of packaged products. The inspiration for their work came from the Zero Waste project led by Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

A competition on "Skills for Solving International Future Problems" was held at the University of Massachusetts. Approximately 2,500 students from around 33 countries competed in areas such as solving global and social issues and scenario writing. Turkish students, who became third in the world with the "Zero Waste is a Sure Win" project, focused on common environmental issues they experienced in their own schools during the project phase and developed current solutions, emphasizing the importance of making many non-recyclable packaged products recyclable.

Şebnem Şen Aksoy, Deputy Principal and Project Coordinator of Bornova College, stated that the students worked in two teams to prevent food waste and reduce the use of packaged products, and after becoming first in Turkey, they represented the country in the USA.
