Bafra Municipality continues to support the "Zero Waste Project," initiated under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and led by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, by implementing it across all platforms.
The Zero Waste Project, which includes approaches to prevent waste, use resources more efficiently, reduce the amount of waste generated, establish an effective collection system, and recycle waste, will also be implemented at the third Kapıkaya Nature Sports and Culture Festival this year.
With the slogan "Preserve Nature, Embrace Sports," the third Nature Sports and Culture Festival will feature various activities related to zero waste. The Bafra Municipality's Department of Sanitation will place "Transformation Begins with You" bins at multiple locations around the festival grounds. Some staff members will be designated to collect recyclable waste throughout the festival.
Bafra Municipality will also emphasize zero waste and recycling with banners and posters displayed around the festival area.
The Kapıkaya Nature Sports and Culture Festival will make a name for itself as the first zero waste-themed festival.
Kapıkayafest will be the first and a pioneer
Speaking on the subject, Mayor Hamit Kılıç said, "We will support the Zero Waste Project, launched by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan, the wife of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at Kapıkayafest. As we move forward with the 'Preserve Nature, Embrace Sports' slogan for our festival, we aim to lead by raising awareness of the zero waste project, reminding our community that transformation begins with them."
Mayor Kılıç also expressed pride in organizing Kapıkayafest, which will be Turkey's first zero waste-themed festival. "Throughout the festival, we will work to bring more attention to this important issue. Considering that entertainment areas tend to have high amounts of waste that could be recycled, our Kapıkaya Nature Sports Festival will set an example and lead the way," he said.
Organized by Bafra Municipality, the third Kapıkaya Nature Sports and Culture Festival will be held from July 24–28, 2019, with its opening ceremony scheduled for Thursday, July 25.
