The "Zero Waste" General Directive from the Presidency.

The Presidential Decree on "Zero Waste," signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was published in the Official Gazette.

The new directive, issued under the patronage of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, brings new regulations aimed at ensuring the more effective implementation of the zero waste system.

In the directive numbered 2024/4, it was emphasized that the zero waste project, initiated under the leadership of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan and regarded as the most comprehensive environmental movement of Turkey's Century, has evolved into a global initiative with the decision of the United Nations General Assembly.

The directive outlines the following:

  • The effective establishment of the zero waste management system in buildings and campuses.
  • Addressing shortcomings in local administrations.
  • Conducting meticulous inspections and follow-ups.
  • Administrative penalties for those who fail to fulfill their obligations.

International Celebrations

 

The directive also mentioned that, within the framework of procedures and principles to be determined by the Ministry, various events will be organized with relevant public institutions and organizations in celebration of the 30th of March, International Zero Waste Day.
