Zero Waste
With the slogan "Zero Waste Blue," a campaign was launched aimed at keeping our seas, lakes, and rivers clean.
Our First Lady, Emine Hanım (Erdoğan), is quietly doing wonderful things. For two years, she has supported the Zero Waste Project, working from behind the scenes, and recently took a new step forward. With the slogan "Zero Waste Blue," she launched a campaign aimed at cleaning our seas, lakes, and rivers.
With Emine Hanım's participation, divers started cleaning the seabed, and shoreline cleaning vehicles began surface cleaning in the Istanbul Bosphorus at Beşiktaş. This project, which will continue through the end of the summer season, aims to keep our marine and water resources clean and to gather marine litter with the involvement of every citizen. The goal is to collect 50,000 tons of waste by October 31.
Emine Hanım signed the "Zero Waste Blue" slogan, sending it out to all public institutions, municipalities, private sector entities, and NGOs. She called on every citizen to join the campaign. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change will carry out the project over the next five years.
Of course, the biggest responsibility lies with us in the media. Our job is to spread the word and support "Zero Waste Blue." If we can get even one person strolling along the shore to pick up a single plastic bottle and dispose of it properly, that is a success. At the very least, we will have helped that person “Find Their Own Star”!
