In the Fethiye district of Muğla, seabed cleaning was conducted at Ölüdeniz’s world-renowned Belcekız and Kumburnu beaches as part of the "Zero Waste Blue Project," led by the Muğla Environmental Protection Foundation (MUÇEV). During the four-hour operation by nine volunteer divers, various debris, including umbrellas, car tires, and plastic and glass waste, was removed. A “Zero Waste Blue” banner was also displayed on a paraglider during the cleanup.
Osman Gökmen, MUÇEV Area Coordinator, emphasized the significance of the Zero Waste Project, noting that this initiative represents the marine component, Zero Waste Blue, of Turkey’s largest environmental movement. He expressed satisfaction at finding fewer waste items than expected, hoping to maintain the cleanliness of the seas. British tourist Shelley Masser, who observed the cleanup, praised the project, remarking on her admiration for Ölüdeniz's natural beauty and congratulating those involved in the effort.
