Emine Erdoğan Visited the Türkevi in New York.

Emine Erdoğan visited the Türkevi in New York as a special guest of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General.

Erdoğan traveled on Turkish Airlines flight TK 3, accompanied by her daughter Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar and granddaughter Aybike Bayraktar. 

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu also traveled to New York on the same flight to participate in the special session for International Zero Waste Day on March 30 at the UN.

Upon arrival, Emine Erdoğan thanked the pilots Göker Yılmaz Kadayıfçı, Şevki Baş, and female co-pilot Buket Çelik, taking a commemorative photo with them.

At Türkevi, Emine Erdoğan and Çavuşoğlu were welcomed at the entrance by Turkey's Permanent Representative Ambassador Sedat Önal, Ambassador to Washington Murat Mercan and their spouses, as well as Turkey's Consul General in New York Reyhan Özgür and members of Turkey's Permanent Mission to the UN and Consulate General.

Emine Erdoğan visited the digital exhibition titled "Paths of My Home" at Türkevi, where she also took commemorative photos with attendees.

During her visit, Emine Erdoğan will participate in a special session at the UN General Assembly for International Zero Waste Day on March 30. She will call for the widespread adoption of the Zero Waste Project implemented in Turkey, explaining the need to implement the project globally in relation to sustainable waste management and climate change.

Special Invitation

Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of UN Habitat, visited Turkey on February 24 to convey her "get well soon" wishes to Emine Erdoğan and the Turkish people following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. Sharif also extended a special invitation to Emine Erdoğan to participate in the events for the inaugural International Zero Waste Day on March 30, organized by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

International Zero Waste Day 

The UN General Assembly adopted the "zero waste" resolution on December 14, 2022, with Turkey as the main sponsor and 105 countries as co-sponsors. With this decision, March 30 was declared "International Zero Waste Day."
