Zero Waste
As part of the Zero Waste Project, Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Erdoğan, who met with mayors, stated, "With the campaign we are running, the awareness of zero waste is rapidly spreading across the country. We can say that the issue has already surpassed the borders of Ankara. At this point, all our municipalities should start working on the necessary infrastructure immediately."
Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met with mayors at the Presidential Complex as part of the Zero Waste Project coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. During her speech at the meeting, she emphasized the importance of active participation from municipalities for the project's success.
She stated, “We want to establish a holistic system for zero waste and make regional plans. The system’s applicability and sustainability can only be achieved through the active participation of municipalities.” Emine Erdoğan urged local administrators to take ownership of the issue, representing Turkey's rich diversity.
She noted that while the ministry aims to implement the project in Ankara this year, the zero waste awareness is rapidly spreading across the country. “We can say that this issue has already surpassed the borders of Ankara. At this point, all our municipalities should start working on the necessary infrastructure immediately,” she added.
Previously, under her patronage, the Zero Waste Project had involved meetings with prominent industrialists, business leaders, artists, and academics, as well as representatives from institutions like TRT, THY, and TOKİ to share information and discuss the project.
