03 Apr 2019

Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, officially opened the recycling exhibition titled "You Can Stop It," organized by the Regional Environmental Center Turkey and supported by the TANAP Social and Environmental Investment Programs.

The opening of the recycling exhibition titled "You Can Stop It," conducted by REC Türkiye and financed under the TANAP Social and Environmental Investment Programs (SEIP) Direct Grant Funding Mechanism, was held at Kentpark Shopping Center with the participation of Emine Erdoğan and Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum.

Emine Erdoğan, as part of the "Green Box on the Roads" environmental education project, visited the exhibition with Minister Kurum and his accompanying guests, receiving information from REC Türkiye Director Rifat Ünal Sayman.

While touring the maze-shaped exhibition, she also observed the activities of the visiting students. Emine Erdoğan even held and cuddled Minister Kurum’s seven-month-old daughter, Hatice Zehra, and took souvenir photos with the children.

The exhibition will be open for visitors until June 30. It is part of the Green Box on the Roads Project, which aims to raise awareness among students in nine provinces along the TANAP route, promoting positive changes in their values and behaviors through "Education for Sustainable Development." The project also contributes to the sustainability of these provinces.

The exhibition, hosted at the Kentpark Shopping Center in Ankara, aims to share the story of waste and effective practices for solving the waste problem, inviting everyone to be part of the solution.

Visitors will find information on how human activities affect nature and the environment, as well as a closer look at glass, paper, plastic, and electronic waste created as a result of consumption habits.

The maze-shaped exhibition area consists of nine sections: "Entrance," "Our World and Environmental Threats," "Circular Economy," "Household Waste," "Packaging Waste," "Electronic Waste," "Activity Area," "Education Room," and "Exit." Visitors can reach the exit based on their consumption habits and choices regarding waste generation.

The exhibition also aims to help individuals of all ages experience and learn how products commonly used in daily life become "waste" and how waste can be transformed.
