Zero Waste
Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, distributed notebooks made from recycled materials to students at recycling facilities in Esenler.
Emine Erdoğan attended the Notebook Distribution Ceremony organized by Esenler Municipality at Hasip Dinçsoy Primary School. She toured the school yard, where the municipality showcased its recycling efforts, and examined the products made from recycled materials.
Emine Erdoğan received information from Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu about the recycling bin, detergent made from waste oil, waste battery collection box, and the Blue Cap Project.
Upon learning that notebooks made from recycled materials are distributed for free to students in all schools in Esenler, Emine Erdoğan said, "Mr. Mayor, I congratulate you. I hope it will be an example for all our districts, for our Turkey."
While examining the wheelchairs and electric vehicles obtained through the Blue Cap Project, Emine Erdoğan also chatted with a disabled citizen who approached her.
Emine Erdoğan also received information from Mayor Göksu about the ESMATIK recycling machine, which provides points for bread from public bread stands in exchange for waste such as glass, metal cans, and plastic bottles. She then deposited a plastic bottle into the machine to load points onto her card.
ZERO WASTE PROJECT
In a classroom she visited, when Emine Erdoğan asked the students, "What is a unique feature of your school?" the students replied, "Zero waste."
Emine Erdoğan encouraged the students to support the zero waste project by reminding their parents to separate their waste at home.
She gathered information about the efforts made in schools regarding the Zero Waste Project and distributed notebooks made from recycled materials to the students, taking a group photo with them afterward.
Through this project, a total of 500,000 notebooks made from recycled materials will be distributed for free to 90,000 students attending schools in the district.
