Zero Waste
In Balikesir, which is among the popular beaches for summer tourism with its "Blue Flag" beaches, a total of 2,500 tons of waste were collected during the summer season. These collected wastes were recycled and reintegrated into the economy through the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Solid Waste Disposal Facilities. As part of the efforts, a total of 160,500 square meters of coastal areas near the shores of the Marmara Sea and the Aegean Sea were cleaned of accumulated household and urban waste, as well as algae, using amphibious marine vehicles and equipment.
Büyükşehir Belediyesi, 2019 sezonunda 2 bin 500 ton çöpü, belediyenin Katı Atık Bertaraf Tesisleri'ne geri dönüşüme gönderildi.
Mahmut Acaröz'ün haberine göre, 'Mavi Bayraklı' plajlarıyla yaz turizminin gözdesi birçok beldeyi sınırlarında bulunduran Balıkesir’de, sezon sonrası sahillerde ve kıyılarda detaylı temizlik çalışmaları yapıldı. Balıkesir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Etüt ve Projeler Daire Başkanlığı’na bağlı Kıyı ve Sahil Hizmetleri Şube Müdürlüğü tarafından; sezon öncesi ve sezon boyunca belirli periyodlarla yürütülen temizlik çalışmaları sezonunun kapanışının ardından da titizlikle gerçekleştirildi.
BOTTOM CLEANING OF 160,000 SQUARE METERS
Daily cleaning activities are carried out in the coastal and beach areas covering 622,000 square meters under the responsibility of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, including Akçay Square. Additionally, scheduled coarse cleaning operations are conducted in other areas using machinery and personnel. During the summer of 2019, a total of 160,500 square meters of coastal areas near the shores of the Marmara Sea and the Aegean Sea were cleaned of accumulated household and urban waste, as well as algae, using amphibious marine vehicles and equipment.
EXPLAINING THE PROTECTION OF THE NATURAL STRUCTURE
Teams that completed sand sifting operations at the beaches owned by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality conducted the cleaning of accumulated household and urban waste on the seabed in the areas close to the shore in Güre using a marine rake. To ensure that the heavy traffic experienced during the summer season does not harm the natural structure of many special coves and bays that are vital habitats, a total of 2,500 tons of waste were collected by the Environmental Protection and Control Department of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and sent for recycling to the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Solid Waste Disposal Facilities.
